Setting The Scene
Gateshead host Harrogate Town on Tuesday evening (7:45pm kick-off) in the penultimate game of pre-season at the International Stadium.
The Heed come into the clash on the back of a 4-2 win at Hebburn Town last Friday evening, with goals from Connor Thomson, Scott Barrow, Toby Lees and JJ O’Donnell securing the first win of pre-season.
The win followed two defeats for Mike Williamson’s side, who fell to a 3-1 loss against Championship side Middlesbrough before a youthful line-up was beaten 4-1 at Consett later the same week.
Harrogate meanwhile, have faced National League North opposition already in pre-season with wins over Darlington and Guiseley following a 7-0 thumping of Northern Counties East League Premier Division side Knaresborough.
Simon Weaver’s men will be looking to go one further this season, having reached the National League play-off quarter-final last time around only to be defeated by eventual finalists Fylde.
Jordan Preston (knee) is the only absentee from the squad ahead of tomorrow’s game. Harrogate loanees Toby Lees and Liam Agnew are both able to play in the fixture.
What We're Saying
Player-manager Williamson is anticipating a close-fought encounter with Harrogate on Tuesday, telling gateshead-fc.com: “It will be good to look on that side in terms of testing us physically and tactically on the pitch this evening.
We of course played Harrogate last year in the National League and unfortunately came out on the losing end on both occasions, so we know they’ll be strong and the boys have been looking forward to it.
Tickets can be purchased on the gate on Tuesday evening and are priced as follows:
