It’s Torquay up next and after Tuesdays win over Guiseley, we go into the game full of confidence.

A 1-0 win is one of the best results in football as it shows a team effort to defend such a slender lead. We dominated possession against Guiseley and created a lot of chances, but at the other end we were resilient and kept it tight between the lines. More performances like that and we will have a great season.

Torquay have had a tough start to the season with a draw against Tranmere Rovers and a loss against Aldershot. They will be looking to get their first win of the season tomorrow and it’s up to us to make the international stadium a fortress. We owe them after losing 3-1 last season so it should be a good contest.

Neill Byrne is off the mark with his first goal for the club on Tuesday, so the rest of us defenders need to stick our heads on the ball and chip in with some goals too. We can’t let him get too far in front! But if we keep clean sheets that’s the most important thing. The attacking players will also be looking to open their accounts for the season, or it could be Danny Johnson taking home the top scorer award for the 2nd season running, after his opening day goal against Woking.

With so much competition in the squad, the Gaffer has put a team together that can challenge for promotion this year. With a blend of youth and experience it’s important we learn from the mistakes of last year. We will be looking to implement our style of play in every game and make ourselves difficult to beat. Hopefully by 5pm we’ll have another 3 points on the board.
