Joshua Kayode revealed he is 'over the moon' to have scored his first Gateshead goal at Latimer Park in the Heed's first win of the season.
It didn’t take long for the home side to get going on Saturday, as Marcus Kelly latched onto a cross at the back post, striking past Brad James in the 7th minute.
Mike Williamson’s side then managed to equalise on the 65 minute mark through Harrogate loanee Toby Lees, before Rotherham loanee Kayode struck the Heed in front at injury time.
Kayode was delighted to help Gateshead to their first win of the season, telling gateshead-fc.com: “I’m just buzzing.
“I’m so happy with the win because today probably wasn’t one of our best games, so to come away win three points is amazing."
“I’m over the moon to get my first goal, we’re five games in and I was thinking if it was ever going to happen so I’m delighted to get going.
“It was probably one of the best games to get the goal in as well; in the last minute to get us our first win of the season.
“Hopefully now that I’ve gotten one, I can start and get a few."
The Irish-Nigerian striker now turns his attention to Saturday’s game against Farsley Celtic, who currently sit 12th after a win over Spennymoor Town at the weekend.
“Every game in this league is going to be tough, there’s no game that we’ll go into and get a guaranteed result," Kayode added.
“We’ll go into every game with a winning mentality though and that’ll be no different on Saturday."
