Goals from Greg Olley, Scott Boden and Tom White helped Gateshead to a fourth consecutive victory and clean sheet as they beat Aldershot Town 3-0 at the International Stadium.
Olley put Gateshead ahead in the 20th minute, with Boden doubling the lead just after the half hour mark.
Gateshead never really looked in danger in the second half and made it 3-0 through White in the 77th minute, to extend the Heed’s unbeaten run to four.
Aldershot came into the game having won three in a row and started the game on top. The game’s first chance took 13 minutes to come. An Adam May freekick for Aldershot was flicked on by Scott Rendell at the near post, but Aynsley Pears was equal to it.
Gateshead then went up the other end with Scott Barrow whipping in a cross which Boden headed over.
Gateshead were ahead before long, Boden flicked the ball to Olley, who weaved past three players before firing a low shot to put the Heed in front.
Both teams were struggling to create any clear-cut chances, but Gateshead made it two in the 33rd minute.
Barrow played a one-two with Olley from a corner, before crossing into the box. The chance looked to have gone, but Fraser Kerr did well to keep the ball alive, with the ball falling to Boden after a scramble who stabbed home from close range.
Aldershot came close to pulling a goal back when Adam McDonnell headed the ball down to Jake Gallagher, whose volley looked set to go in, but Pears pulled off a stunning save to deny the midfielder.
The second half took a while to really get going, but Gateshead came close on 66 minutes, with Olley firing a freekick just wide of the post.
With 20 minutes to go White had the chance to put the game beyond doubt, but his volley effort from the edge of the box cannoned wide.
White made up for his miss less than 10 minutes later. Olley played the ball to Luke Armstrong, who played in White who fired past Will Mannion at his near post.
Aldershot created a rare chance with 10 minutes to go, with Matt McClure shooting from long range and only just missing the target.
Substitute Luke Molyneux came close to adding a fourth in the 82nd minute, but Mannion did well to deny the Sunderland-loanee.
