Gateshead Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of former Halifax Town forward Jordan Preston on a one-year deal.
The 23-year-old will be a familiar face for Heed fans having spent the 2017/18 season with the club, scoring five goals in 42 National League appearances.
Preston spent last season plying his trade with Halifax and netted three goals in the National League – two of which came in both league fixtures against the Heed.
Prior to joining Gateshead, the forward appeared for Guiseley, Ayr United and Blackburn Rovers’ under-21 side.
“I’m looking forward to it, probably more so than the first time,” Preston told gateshead-fc.com.
“It’s a bigger challenge and I’m definitely looking forward to getting started.
“Obviously I’m familiar with the surroundings, there’s still a few people here that I know and I know the pitch is nice and all about the area so I don’t think it’ll take much settling in.”
The 23-year-old played against his new manager at the International Stadium last season, scoring in the opening minute as Halifax held the Heed to a 1-1 draw.
He is looking forward to being part of a young Gateshead squad this season, adding: “I think one of the main things is staying in full-time football.
“With Mike Williamson now the manager it’s promising and exciting, there’s a good group of young players so I’m hoping that we can all progress together.
“I think everyone in the league knew that Gateshead were one of the better footballing teams in the league last season, they were exciting to watch.
“The main thing is being consistent and we all want the same goal, which is to get back into the National League.”
