4. Jamie Chandler - Midfield

Signed in January 2012 from Darlington for a four figure fee, Chandler, Gateshead's vice-captain, was capped by England at various youth levels. He joined Darlington at the start of the 2010/11 campaign after a spell on loan from Sunderland the previous season. The energetic schemer played over 70 games for the Quakers and was named Man of the Match in the 2011 FA Trophy final win over Mansfield Town at Wembley. A box-to-box player, Chandler has made over 100 appearances for Gateshead and scored nine goals last season.

Creative midfield man Oster was capped 13 times by Wales and was twice involved in £1m plus transfers, from Grimsby Town to Everton and from the Toffees to Sunderland. Oster joined Gateshead in September 2013 after playing 28 games for Barnet in League Two the previous season and has also played for Burnley, Reading, Crystal Palace and Doncaster Rovers. Vastle experienced, he has also had loan spells at Barnsley, Grimsby Town and Leeds United in a long career of over 500 appearances in the professional game, including 39 in his first season at Gateshead.

 

8. Phil Turnbull - Midfield

Turnbull joined Gateshead for a second spell in February 2008 when he signed on loan from York City, the deal made permanent in March that year. He had previously played five games on loan for Gateshead during the 2005/2006 season from Hartlepool United. After leaving Victoria Park the playmaker moved on to then Conference Premier club York where injury hampered his progress. The skilful central midfielder has been a feature of the Gateshead engine room for the past six seasons and has played over 320 games for the club.

A product of Darlington's youth system Ramshaw joined Gateshead in the summer of 2012 after two years with the Quakers. The central midfield player made 11 Conference Premier appearances in the second half of the 2011/12 season for Darlington, seven off the bench. He made his Conference debut for Gateshead in the early part of last season and scored on his first home start against Dartford. Had a spell on loan at Darlington in February and scored five goals for Gateshead last season.

 

18. JJ O'Donnell - Midfield

Left-sided player O'Donnell, initially signed for Gateshead on loan in January 2014 from Luton Town and made 17 appearances for the Tynesiders last season, including a substitute appearance in the Conference play-off final at Wembley in May. He had joined Luton from St. Albans City in January 2010 and had loan spells at Thurrock and Hampton & Richmond in 2011/12 before he signed a new three-year contract at Kenilworth Road in the summer of 2012. O'Donnell, who played 51 games for Luton, played five games on loan at Conference basement club Hyde last season and a four figure fee saw him sign for Gateshead in the summer.

Former Newcastle United academy player McDermott signed for Gateshead just before the start of the 2014/15 season after a successful trial. The central midfielder was released by The Magpies in 2012 and then had short spells with Stockport County and Bury. The son of former Newcastle, Liverpool and England midfielder Terry McDermott, he was born on Merseyside but grew up in the north east. His older brother Neale played for Gateshead in the 2009/10 season.

 

23. Alex Rodman - Midfield

Rodman played for Gateshead boss Gary Mills at both York City and Tamworth and last season was impressive on the wing for Grimsby Town, where he made 41 appearances and scored eight goals. The experienced wide man joined Gateshead in the summer after a move across the border to join Hibernian fell through. The former England C international's career began in his native Midlands at Leamington. He also played for Grantham Town and Gainsborough Trinity before he spent three years at both Tamworth and Aldershot Town, the latter in League Two.
