Anth Smith - Manager

Former Sunderland defender Anth Smith replaced Ian Bogie as Gateshead manager on December 13th 2012 having previously managed the Club's reserve and junior sides.

He took over as Gateshead Reserves manager during the summer after a spell as manager of Northern League club Chester-le-Street Town.

England U.20 international Smith made 25 appearances for Sunderland, almost half in the 1st division, during five years at his hometown club.

While with the Black Cats he had a loan period at Hartlepool United and Northampton Town before his playing career ended at just 24 due to injury.

Assistant Manager

Rush was a team-mate of Anth Smith's at Sunderland during the first half of the 1990s. David spent five years at home town club Sunderland, for whom he played 70 games, and made another 104 appearances during three years at Oxford United.The striker had loan spells at Cambridge United, Peterborough United and Hartlepool United while at Sunderland and ended his career at Hartlepool in 1999 after a short time at York City. Since then he has been involved in Academy and scouting work and briefly had a period as manager at local Northern League club Hebburn Town.

Goalkeeping Coach

Appointed Gateshead goalkeeping coach in 2010 following the club's promotion to the Conference Premier.

The Middlesbrough-born keeper's playing career began at Sunderland before short spells at Darlington and Hartlepool United followed. Porter moved on to Southend United and then spent three years at York City having previously had a short spell in Iceland. Locally Porter, has played for Bishop Auckland and Billingham Synthonia.

Head Coach

Paul Bryson joined hometown club Gateshead in the summer of 2010 as manager of the newly formed Gateshead reserves side and assistant first team coach. A former player-manager of Chester-le-Street Town, Bryson, spent a decade with Sunderland FC Academy and has also been England Colleges coach. Won the Durham Challenge Cup as Gateshead reserves boss in 2011. As a player the midfielder played for a host of North East non-league clubs including Spennymoor, Dunston Fed and Tow Law. Rejoined Gateshead in January 2013 as Head Coach.
