Mills was installed as Gateshead manager in September 2013, six games into the 2013/14 season, and took the club from 19th in the table to a third place finish - the Tynesiders' highest placing for over five decades. Wembley was also reached for the first time, losing 2-1 in May's Conference Premier play-off final against Cambridge United. As a player Mills was capped by England at three different levels, including U.21, and was a European Cup winner at Nottingham Forest. The midfielder made almost 250 appearances during five years at Leicester City, had two spells at Notts County and also played for Derby County. His first managerial post was at Grantham Town and he has also managed Notts County, King's Lynn, Tamworth, twice, Alfreton Town and York City. Mills won the Conference North title with Tamworth in 2009 and won the 2012 FA Trophy final and Conference play-off final, both at Wembley, on consecutive weekends in his first full season at York.

Assistant Manager

Caskey was appointed assistant-manager at Gateshead in September 2013, moving from Ilkeston FC where he held the same post. The midfielder's playing career started at Tottenham, where he made 43 appearances, and while at White Hart Lane he captained England to victory in the Under-18 European Championships in 1993 and England U.20 to the World Cup. After four years at Spurs Basildon-born Caskey moved to Reading for £700,000 and played 225 games for the Royals before moving on to Notts County where he played a century of games, a number of them under then County boss Gary Mills.

Reserves and Youth Team Coach

Paul Bryson joined hometown club Gateshead in the summer of 2010 as manager of the newly formed Gateshead reserves side and assistant first team coach. A former player-manager of Chester-le-Street Town, Bryson, spent a decade with Sunderland FC Academy and has also been England Colleges coach. Won the Durham Challenge Cup as Gateshead reserves boss in 2011. As a player the midfielder played for a host of North East non-league clubs including Spennymoor, Dunston Fed and Tow Law.

Reserves and Youth Team Coach

Former Republic of Ireland U.21 midfielder Cummins signed for Gateshead from Conference rivals Grimsby Town in the summer of 2011. The 35-year-old racked up 287 games for Port Vale during a six year stay in the Potteries having began his career at Middlesbrough where he made two Premier League appearances. After leaving Port Vale, where he played in the 2001 LDV Vans final win over Brentford at the Millennium Stadium, Cummins had two year spells at both Darlington and Rotherham before he linked up with Grimsby and then Gateshead for whom he scored 12 goals in his first season and has made over 100 appearances.
