The Tynesiders busy end to the transfer window continued with 20 year old midfielder Rob Ramshaw joining Darlington 1883 FC on a month long loan and Dan Smith cancelling his contract with the club.
Ramshaw who has featured in 13 matches for the Heed this season, scoring 2 goals, makes the short journey to Darlington to regain match sharpness.
Gary Mills said, "I felt that Rob needed to be playing games to retain his sharpness and this is the ideal move. He will return at the beginning of March, at the business end of the season, and will rejoin our push for the playoffs and promotion".
Smith asked for his contract to be cancelled to allow him to pursue his career abroad.
Mills commented, "I would like to wish Dan all the best for his future career. It didn't quite work out for him at Gateshead and a fresh start with a new club maybe just what he needs to kick start his career".
