Third Player Leaves Gateshead On Loan
A third player has left the club on loan with right back Glenn Wilson joining Blue Square Bet South leaders Salisbury City for the rest of the season.
Wilson follows in the footsteps of fellow Londoner Chris Bush who joined Lincoln City on loan and another player from the south, Yemi Odubade.
The Nigerian-born striker is on loan at Forest Green Rovers until the end of the season.
Wilson and Bush were brought to Gateshead by former manager Ian Bogie in the summer, Odubade in the previous close season.
Wilson, 26, made just seven starts in the first half of the season and made another four appearances off the bench.
The former Crystal Palace trainee had loan spells at Conference Premier winners Fleetwood Town and Conference South winners Woking last season while at Crawley Town.
Wilson has joined another top of the table side with Salisbury City currently six points clear at the head of the Blue Square Bet Premier.
"Wilson wasn't getting a game at Gateshead and moving south to a club pushing for promotion is a good move for him," said Gateshead manager Anth Smith.
Wilson's last game for The Heed was in the Durham Challenge Cup win at FA Vase holders Dunston UTS where he scored and played at centre half.
Salisbury boss Darrell Clarke meanwhile said: "Wilson is somebody I've had my eye on for a while. He's a great character and he's got plenty of experience. I very much look forward to working with him."
Three players have gone out on loan during the transfer window and there could be some trialists on show at Durham City tomorrow night in the Durham Challenge Cup.
Gateshead reserves head for New Ferens Park bidding to reach the final of the County Cup for the third year running.
