Gateshead have offered new contracts to 12 players while releasing 11 from the squad that finished 8th in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Top scorer, and Player of the Year, Jon Shaw is one of the dozen to be offered a new deal along with mid-season signings from Darlington, Jamie Chandler and Liam Hatch.

Nathan Fisher, who missed half the season through injury, is another along with mid-season signing Carl Magnay and emerging talents Josh Gillies and James Marwood.

Yemi Odubade, who suffered two broken foots during his first season on Tyneside, is also among the 12 along with experienced centre backs Ben Clark and James Curtis.

Experienced midfield pair Micky Cummins and Phil Turnbull are also on the list.

Of those released five are former Newcastle United players, including long serving pair Craig Baxter and Kris Gate.
