Dummett Deal Extended

Paul Dummett's loan deal from Premier League neighbours Newcastle United has been extended until the end of the season.

The Wales U.21 international made four appearances at left back for Gateshead during March but is expected to play at the heart of defence against Barrow on Saturday.

With James Curtis injured and Carl Magnay suspended for three games following his red card at Newport Dummett's versatility is a bonus for manager Ian Bogie.

"We are delighted that Newcastle United have allowed Paul to stay with us until the end of the season," said Gateshead manager Ian Bogie.

"We have six important games left, all of them cup finals, and with injuries and suspensions it was important we were able to hold on to the player for the final month.

"Paul has a bright future and did well in his first month at Gateshead, and one that can play at both left back and centre back."

Striker Yemi Odubade meanwhile has returned to training after a seven match lay-off due to a second broken foot of the season.

Young wide man James Marwood also came through today's training session after recovering from a groin strain.

Curtis, Phil Turnbull, Nathan Fisher, Magnay, Liam Hatch and fringe player Rob Briggs, however, all remain sidelined.

"Hopefully Odubade and Marwood will play some part over the Easter weekend," added Bogie "we are down on numbers but this is a test of how strong our squad is."
