Reserves drawn away in Durham Challenge Cup

Jim ProvettDurham Challenge Cup holders Gateshead reserves have been drawn away to Norton & Stockton Ancients in the second round of this season's competition.

Gateshead booked their place in the second round with a 3-0 win against South Shields while Norton & Stockton won 3-1 at Jarrow FC.

Gateshead reserves beat Norton & Stockton 2-0 at the semi-final stage last season at the International Stadium and then won the final by the same margin against Dunston UTS.

Norton & Stockton are currently 8th in the STL Northern League though they have won only three of their ten home games.

The Teesiders include former Gateshead and Hartlepool United goalkeeper Jim Provett in their squad.

The club have also recently signed experienced former Middlesbrough and Cardiff City striker Andy Campbell on loan.

Second round ties have to be completed by January 7th.
