GFC Reserves face Black Cats

Nathan FisherGateshead reserves manager Paul Bryson has named a strong side for tonight's Central League Cup game against Sunderland at Hetton-le-Hole.

The game against the Black Cats takes place at the Hetton Centre, Eppleton CW, and kicks-off at 7pm.

Dutch trialist, and former Newcastle United trainee, Frank Danquah, lines up in a three man attack alongside Gary Mulligan and Nathan Fisher.

On loan current Magpie, Jak Alnwick, is between the posts while former Newcastle pair Craig Baxter and Martin Brittain are in a side that includes ten professionals.

Sam Rents, who played the final half hour against Lincoln City at Sincil Bank last night, plays at left back with Scot Ewan Moyes again alongside Dan Lay at the centre of defence.

Former Bradford City midfielder Kyle Nix also starts as Gateshead look to build on their opening League Cup group win over Hartlepool United.

Sunderland midfielder David Meyler meanwhile is set to make his return from injury tonight.

The 22-year-old Irishman hasn't played since January after damaging his knee during the win over Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Oumare Tounkara returns to the squad while James McClean is again included after he was an unused sub. for the first team against Stoke City last weekend.

Admission is priced at £3 adults and £1 concessions, payable on the turnstiles.
