Shaw Blue Square Player of the Month
Gateshead striker Jon Shaw has been named Blue Square Bet Premier Player of the Month for the second time since signing for the club.
The former Sheffield Wednesday and England C player first picked up the prestigious award during Gateshead's fabulous February last season.
Shaw has now claimed the first monthly award of the new campaign after scoring seven goals in six games during August.
The 27-year-old, the subject of a failed £40,000 bid from Luton Town, has also scored in every game this season and has scored 28 goals in 53 games for Gateshead.
"Shaw has been on fire," said manager Ian Bogie "he has led the line well and is a proven goalscorer who we were determined to hold on to.
"Our ambition is to get back into the Football League. To do that you have to hold on to your best players and we have done that.
"To win two Blue Square Bet Premier monthly awards is recognition of his contribution to Gateshead and I am delighted for him."
Shaw will receive his August Player of the Month trophy from league sponsors Blue Square before the Cambridge United or York City game this month.
Bogie meanwhile missed out on the August Manager of the Month award by the narrowest of margins, that honour going to Wrexham's Dean Saunders.
The Welsh side are currently top of the table on goal difference from Gateshead with an identical record of five wins and a draw from their opening six games.
