Reserves look for Pools double

Rob BriggsGateshead reserves will attempt to complete a quickfire League and Cup double over Hartlepool United's second string tonight.

Second half goals from Josh Gillies and defender Ewan Moyes gave Gateshead a 2-1 Central League win at Victoria Park last week.

The two sides go head-to-head again tonight at the International Stadium in a Central League Cup tie.

Gateshead name a strong starting eleven with Jonny Rowell going in against his former club and another trialist, Kris Thackray, alongside Ewan Moyes at the back.

Tim Deasy is again between the posts ahead of his knee operation while Gary Mulligan and Nathan Fisher spearhead the attack.

"It was an excellent display at Hartlepool," said reserves boss Paul Bryson "we have a strong side out tonight and will be looking for another good performance."

Hartlepool include summer signing and former Newcastle United midfielder Nobby Solano in their side along with highly rated front man James Brown and the experienced Antony Sweeney.

Kick-off at the International Stadium is 7pm.
