Ashley WinnTransfer-listed midfield man Ashley Winn has joined Blue Square Bet South club Farnborough.

Winn, 25, joined Gateshead on a one-and-a-half year contract at the turn of the year after initially making his debut on loan from Southport in November in the FA Cup defeat at Notts County.

The Teesider, however, struggled to make an impact at the International Stadium after a £2,500 move from Haig Avenue.

Gateshead manager Ian Bogie had trailed Winn for some time but In total the former Oldham Athletic trainee made just 16 appearances, half off the bench.

"Unfortunately it did not work out for Ashley at Gateshead," said Bogie "he failed to establish himself in the side and was subsequently placed on the transfer list.

"He wanted a run of games in the side to prove himself but when you are given the chance you have to take it.

"Hopefully moving to Farnborough, who are a full-time club in the Conference South, will kick-start his career and we wish him well.

"Winn's departure also free's up another place in the squad and it is a move that will benefit both parties."

Winn, who has joined Farnborough on a free transfer, played in the Hampshire club's 0-4 pre-season friendly defeat against Aldershot Town today.
