Gateshead reserves face youthful Iron

Jonny AllanGateshead reserves will take on a youthful Scunthorpe United second string in the totesport.com League in Lincolnshire this afternoon.

The Iron include only one senior professional, goalkeeper Sam Slocombe, for the game which takes place at Brigg Town Football Club.

Gateshead travel with seven professionals in their 13, Ashley Winn and Jonny Allan the most experienced.

Steven Baptist is handed a central role in midfield with Josh Gillies and James Marwood providing the width.

Paul Farman is in goal and Carl Jones at the centre of defence alongside youngster Dan Lay.

Victory would give Paul Bryson's side the chance to finish outside the bottom two of the East Division, Scunthorpe currently occupying a mid-table birth.
