Kieran EdwardsGateshead manager Ian Bogie has hailed the winning mentality in the club after watching his reserve side complete a totesport.com League double over Grimsby Town.

Goals from Ashley Winn, Jonny Allan and debutant Kieran Edwards sealed a comprehensive 3-0 win at Blundell Park.

It was only the reserves third clean sheet of the season and Bogie was delighted with the display of his senior pro's and youngsters.

"It was a very good performance," said Bogie "we had four teenagers making their debuts and they all did very well.

"Kieran Edwards has come through the ranks at Middlesbrough and capped a composed display in the middle of the park with a goal.

"Jordan Bogie came off the bench and had a hand in two of the goals while young Alex Robinson was outstanding at right back.

"Carl Jones and Craig Baxter again did well and it was an excellent all round display against a young Grimsby side.

"Too many times this season the reserves have started well and had a good first half only to fade, but they did the business for the full 90 minutes against the Mariners."

Winn put Gateshead in front on 19 minutes when Josh Gillies' cross shot came back off the post and the midfielder bundled home the rebound.

Good pressure on Town keeper Rob Peet from Bogie forced an error that saw Allan fire home from outside the penalty area.

Edwards then made it three when he ran on to a Bogie pass and the England Youth international will train with Gateshead and play against Hartlepool United reserves next week.
