Jonny AllanGateshead reserves head for Lincolnshire today for the second of their totesport.com League Cup group games.

Paul Bryson's side take on Scunthorpe United at the Championship club's Glanford Park Stadium in an afternoon kick-off.

Gateshead name their most experienced front line to date with Jonny Allan partnering 11 goal Brian Wake up front.

With Tim Deasy still recovering from injury goalkeeping coach Chris Porter is again between the posts with the back four the same as in the previous outing against Lincoln City.

Martin Brittain plays his first reserve team game on the right of a four man midfield with Nathan Fisher on the left.

Wide man James Marwood, having overcome a broken hand, is ruled out with an ankle injury picked up in training.

Gateshead won the first of their four League Cup group matches 2-0 at Hartlepool United and are looking to avenge a 0-2 defeat in the league at the hands of the Iron in August.

"Scunthorpe put out a strong side in their last reserve outing so we will have to see what team they name for this game as it was a young squad that played at Gateshead," said Bryson.

"Our first performance in the totesport.com League Cup against Hartlepool was excellent and it would be good to build on that.

"Playing at Glanford Park will be a good experience for the young players and, hopefully, we will put in a good performance."
