Gateshead Reserves 5-0 Team Northumbria
Gateshead's reserve team manager Paul Bryson was delighted with his side's performance in this midweek pre-season friendly win over Team Northumbria.
Prolific front man Nathan Fisher grabbed a hat-trick and the fit again Craig Nelthorpe a brace in a 5-0 romp on Gateshead's 3G training pitch at the International Stadium.
The Tynesiders were three up at half-time with Fisher completing his hat-trick after the break and Nelthorpe scoring his second before he was replaced by manager Ian Bogie's son, Jordan, 25 minutes from time.
Martin Brittain played at right back with Callum Morris partnering Gateshead Colleges defender Matty Scott at the centre of defence.
Former Sunderland reserves striker David Dowson partnered Fisher up front with trialist keeper Mark Cook between the posts against their Northern League second division opponents.
"It was a very good performance and the players attitude was brilliant," said reserve team manager Paul Bryson, the game watched by managerial pair Ian Bogie and Terry Mitchell.
"Fisher was very lively and took his goals well while it was good to see Nelthorpe back in action and finding the net.
"It is no secret that there are places up for grabs for the Conference opener against Kettering Town on Saturday week and the players are aware of that.
"We played some good football and will look to take that into the new totesport.com Central League season which begins on August 18th when we host Leeds United at the International Stadium."
