Sevcon back on board

The logo of international firm Sevcon, designer and manufacturer of control systems for battery powered vehicles located locally on the Team Valley Trading Estate, will once again be seen on Gateshead shirts next season.
Sevcon, who operate worldwide from its headquarters in Gateshead, and from subsidiaries in France, Japan, Korea, and the USA, has renewed its partnership with Gateshead Football Club.
Sevcon were first team shirt sponsors during the back-to-back promotion campaigns from the UniBond premier division to the Blue Square Premier and they will sponsor the home and away shirts for the newly formed Gateshead reserves side this season.
"Sevcon and Gateshead Football club are very similar in that we are both small enterprises with big ambition," said Sevcon President and Chief Executive Matt Boyle.
"We thoroughly enjoyed our previous link up with the club. It is good to be back and to be investing in the stars of the future that will be involved in Gateshead's reserve side.
"Our initial input is £5,000 for the 2010/11 season but we will revue the sponsorship at the end of each season.
"As a firm with its headquarters in Gateshead we are proud to link up with Gateshead Football Club and to put something back into the local community."
Gateshead chairman Graham Wood meanwhile is delighted to welcome Sevcon back on board.
"We have a good relationship with Sevcon and are delighted that they are able to sponsor Gateshead Football Club once again," said Wood.
"Their last sponsorship deal coincided with two of our most successful years for a long time so hopefully their return is a good omen."
The link up with Sevcon follows the announcement of a £36,000 windfall from the Premier League and the continued mutually beneficial partnership with Gateshead Council.
