Gateshead bring in loan midfielder

Gateshead have brought in Tamworth midfielder Gavin Hurren on an in initial 28 day emergency loan and the 24 year old goes straight into the squad for tonight's Blue Square Premier game against Forest Green Rovers.

Hurren made 93 appearances during a three year spell at Kidderminster Harriers following his release from Nottingham Forest.

A brief spell at Mansfield Town then saw the defensive midfielder join Crawley Town on loan and then Tamworth during the close season.

Opportunities at the Lamb have been limited and Hurren was offered a contract at Conference North club AFC Telford United until the end of the season after a successful loan spell with the Bucks at the end of 2009.

Looking for a longer deal, and hoping to stay in the Blue Square Premier, Hurren, sent off for Telford in an FA Cup tie against Blyth Spartans, returned to Tamworth.

Lambs manager Gary Mills however has told the midfielder he does not figure in his plans, paving the way for the temporary move to Gateshead.

Hurren's arrival bolsters an engine room currently unable to call upon a trio of central midfield players; captain Kris Gate, Andy Ferrell and Neale McDermott.
