Gateshead sever French connection
Gateshead will continue their bid for Blue Square Premier survival in the New Year without any Gallic influence.
Following the recent release of Armand One central defender Stephane Pelonde has been released and will be returning to his native France.
Pelonde made his debut on the 28th February 2009 as a substitute during the 2-2 draw with Vauxhall Motors but has been limited to just six appearances in a white shirt.
Four of those appearances have come this season, the first seeing the central defender sent off during the 3-0 defeat at Cambridge United.
"Pelonde's girlfriend is expecting a baby and he will be returning to France next week with our best wishes," said Gateshead manager Ian Bogie.
"Unfortunately it has been a stop-start time for him at Gateshead due to injuries or suspension and he has been limited to a handful of appearances."
There is likely to be further movement, both incomings and outgoings, during the transfer window in January as Bogie looks to strengthen his squad.
