Hednesford Town 3 - 2 Gateshead

Gateshead's promotion hopes took a blow on Saturday as they fell to consecutive league defeats with a 3-2 defeat at eight placed Hednesford Town.

The hosts stormed in to a 2-0 half time lead at Keys Park to stun the promotion chasing Tynesiders who now sit in fourth place in the Unibond Premier Division and five points ahead of sixth placed Guiseley with one game in hand.

Gateshead have pulled off some impressive comebacks this season and were back in the game midway through the second half through a Wayne Phillips goal however the game was realistically put beyond doubt when Hednesford regained their two goal advantage shortly after.

A late Phil Cave penalty was not enough to rescue a point for Ian Bogie's men who will look to get bck to winning ways when they host Kendal Town at the International Stadium on Good Friday.
