Witton Albion 2 - 2 Gateshead

Gateshead twice took the lead at run away UniBond Premier Division leaders Witton Albion on Saturday but eventually had to settle for a point to end an eight match winning streak.

The Tynesiders, who had won at Witton in the UniBond League Cup the previous week, were a goal up through Graeme Armstrong after ten minutes before Adam Warlow equalised for the home side eleven minutes later.

The Gateshead fans had turned out in force and were cheering another goal just before the half hour when the returning David Southern was on hand to restore the visitors lead with a powerful header.

Witton Albion, who had not dropped a point at Wincham Park before the match, drew level again just after the break when Warlow claimed his twenty-forth goal of the season to deny Gateshead all three points.

The result leaves Ian Bogie's men unbeaten since the New Years Day defeat at Whitby Town and occupying third place in the league table with 50 points from 25 games.
