Witton Albion 0 - 1 Gateshead

10/02/2008
Gateshead's impressive cup form continued on Saturday after recording a 1-0 quater final victory in the league cup against Unibond Premier Division promotion rivals Witton Albion.

Following a goaless first half, new signing Paul Brayson was the eventual difference between the two teams as he expertly guided a freekick in to the back of the home side's net with 20 minutes to go to ensure the Tynsiders progressed.

Ian Bogie's men will be hoping for a repeat performance next weekend as they take on the league leaders again, this time in the Unibond Premier Division.

The only sour note to the match was the dismissal of James Curtis, who has only recently returned to the side after injury, in the second half ensuring both teams finished the match with ten men.
