Club Statement - Tony Lee Departs
Gateshead Football Club today announced that it has parted company with Manager Tony Lee.
The Club currently occupies 16th position in the UniBond Premier League with just two months of the season remaining.
Chairman Graham Wood explained: "team performances this season have been significantly below expectations and simply do not reflect the investment made in the squad.
"The Board has decided that the longer term interests of the Club would be best served by using the remainder of the season to seek a replacement for Tony thereby giving a new manager the maximum time possible to prepare for next season and beyond.
We would like to thank Tony for his efforts on behalf of the club and wish him well for the future."
Chief Executive and former Manager Derek Bell will act as Caretaker until a new manager is appointed. Ian Bogie will remain in the role of Assistant Manager.
