A goal from experienced striker Adam Boyd five minutes into the second half condemned a spirited Gateshead reserves side to a narrow 1-0 Central League defeat against Hartlepool United at the International Stadium.
Gateshead U.19s keeper Peter Jameson stepped in for his debut and made a string of good saves to ensure the first half ended goalless.

Gateshead crashed to a shock defeat in Northamptonshire as crisis club Kettering Town won their first Conference game since October.
