Gateshead, who stage their annual dinner at the Gateshead Hilton on Friday night, have scooped three end of season UniBond League awards.

The Tynesiders were named premier division club of the month for April after they finished their league campaign with seven wins and a draw before winning the play-offs.

Gateshead also picked up £650 for finishing runners up in the Fair Play League and veteran keeper Paul Musselwhite, 40, earned a new pair of Macron goalkeeping clubs after five clean sheets in April earned him the Safe Hands Goalkeeper Award.

A terrific season for Gateshead ended in disappointment on Tuesday night as Ian Bogie’s men went down 2-0 at the Stadium of Light to Sunderland AFC reserves in what was the side’s first defeat since a 3-2 defeat away at Hednesford Town in mid March.

Victory would have been the icing on the cake for the Tynesiders however goals from Billy Dennehy and David Dowson either side of the break ensured it was Sunderland who lifted the trophy.

 Turn-up early for Gateshead v Buxton - 02.05.2008
We're expecting a large crowd on Saturday for the promotion play-off encounter between Gateshead and Buxton. We will be opening extra turnstiles, but in the event that the crowd reaches the top end of our estimates, there will be sizeable queues if most people don't turn up until just before kick-off.

So to avoid queues and the possibility of missing kick off, could you please ensure you turn up with ample time to spare. The turnstiles will open at 1:30 p.m. and early arrivals will get an opportunity to see the closing events of the 2008 British Wheelchair Racing Association National Track Championships.

It would be nice for our fans to show their appreciation to the BWRA for making a 3:00 p.m. kick-off possible by boosting the crowd to watch the final heats.
